- Post-Graduate Work Permit Program (PGWPP)
This program allows international students who have graduated from a designated learning institution in or outside Canada to work in Canada. For you to go through the program, you will need a work permit which will allow you work for any employer in Canada even after your study program. The work permit you will need is an open work permit which allows you to work for any employer in Canada
Though this program is not a direct way of getting permanent residence in Canada but it will give you an advantage when applying for Canadian permanent residence as you have gained work experience in Canada.
You will have to apply for the work permit before your study permit expires.
- The Atlantic Immigration Pilot
This is a program that is designed for the Atlantic Provinces in Canada to help skilled and semi-skilled workers and also graduates to find work and also get permanent residency in Canada. The program is tied to four Atlantic Provinces in Canada and they are:
- New Brunswick
- Newfoundland and Labrador
- Nova Scotia
- Prince Edward Island
There are three programs under this Pilot Program and they are:
- Atlantic High Skilled Program
- Atlantic Intermediate-skilled Program; and
- Atlantic International Graduate Program
Out of the three programs we have highlighted above, the Atlantic International Graduate Program is the one designed to help international students who have studied in one of the Atlantic Provinces we mentioned above to get permanent residency in Canada. One good thing about the program is that you don’t need work experience to qualify for the program.
For you to qualify for this program you will have to meet some requirements and they are:
- You must meet the education requirements
- You must have the test results for English and French
- You must have lived in one of the Atlantic Provinces for at least 16months in the 2years before getting your degree
- You must have a valid full-time non-seasonal job offer in Atlantic Canada in a highly skilled or semi-skilled occupation (NOC0,A, B, or C)
- You must have sufficient funds to support yourself and your family when arriving Canada
- Hong Kong Graduate Program
This program is set aside for Hong Kong graduates to apply for open work permit in Canada. It was recently introduced in Canada and with the open work permit; you get to work for any employer in anywhere in Canada for up to three years.

- You must hold a valid passport issued by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region or the United Kingdom to a British National Overseas
